According to a Gallup report, 14% of Americans say they use some form of CBD. 40% of users utilize CBD products for pain, 20% for anxiety, and 11% for sleep.
That’s 1 in 7 people in the U.S.!
Younger Americans and those in the Western U.S. are most likely to report using CBD products, which are widely condoned for their therapeutic benefits without a psychoactive effect due to low levels of THC.
What's the Status of CBD in America?
Cannabidiol was legalized last December, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is still looking into it, while some states are still restricting it. A June 19-July 12 polling from Gallup shows that 20% of adults under the age of 30 say they use CBD, but usage and familiarity with the compound gradually decrease in older age groups. Just 8% of those 65 and older say they use CBD, while 49% are not familiar with it at all.
What Does this Mean for Your Private Label CBD Company?
Your CBD product line CAN succeed with increased interest from mostly younger consumers, though CBD is highly beneficial for older folks as well. In fact, 40% of CBD users in the U.S. claim relief from the following as the top reasons why they use CBD products in the first place:
- Pain (40%)
- Anxiety (20%)
- Insomnia (11%)
- Arthritis (8%)
Cannabidiol is also cited to help people handle their migraines, stress, depression, muscle spasms and soreness, and neurological disorders such as PTSD and ADHD. CBD consumers also include those looking to improve the health of their pets. It can be difficult to get your dog to take his meds, but with the safely calming effects of cannabidiol, administering better health has never been so easy.
When it comes to men vs. women who use CBD products, roughly 4 in 10 of each say they use them for pain relief, but women are more likely than men to use CBD for anxiety (25 vs. 14%, respectively), while men are more likely than women to use CBD for sleep (15% vs. 8 %).
Again, older adults can absolutely benefit from CBD products as CBD becomes more mainstream. With all the aches and pains that come with getting older, some education and myth busting, your customer base may soon grow in age.
